Been on a geology field trip and forgotten where you have been or where you took your photos? Looking for a tracking solution you can just forget about so you can concentrate on the outcrops? Then look no further than the Holux M-1200E Bluetooth GPS Data Logger. This nifty instrument can log up to 200 000 data points and only weighs 32g! It comes with free software called ezTour, which is a PC application that can display the tracks recorded and synchronise photos from a digital camera with your track (i.e. tag your photos with GPS coordinates)

I have been using this device for nearly two years. I purchased it so that I could geotag my photos, and it does the job well. Also because it is a receiver you can use it in an aeroplane too. There is no transmitter. Used on flights to Europe and in Australia. You will need power input for long haul flights. In open area like all gps units, this works very well. However according to the unit I was in the middle of Sydney harbour photographing one night.
The only problem is the software. I have had to download more than once the drivers to make the sync between the device and pc work. The reason is that when my mobile phone is sync by USB cable to the pc, the gps drivers get updated too. Now I use an older pc just to manage my GPS and geotagging, and main desktop for the rest of work.
I love the size and weight of this device. For me it does the job I want it to do. Not every camera has gps built in, and for that reason I purchased this item.
It is for me the software which is the let down, otherwise for the cost, it is great.
