Valley 20 oz. Rock Pick Hammer

These are great hammers for those starting out.  They are well priced and are of solid quality.  The head is larger than the Estwings so it's safer in the sense that there is less chance of chipping the rock you are hitting, but it also allows the head to last longer.  The handle and head are made of drop forged steel and the grip is cushioned for comfort.  It is a similar weight to the Estwing E3-22P and a direct competitor on quality.  We find the steel to be better quality than the Estwings on this model.

The great thing about the Valley hammers is that they have a brightly coloured handle.  Many will attest to the fact that it is very easy to lose a hammer in the field and having a brightly coloured handle greatly helps when finding it!
