Belomo™ 10x Triplet, Loupe, Hand Lens

This is one of the best lens' on the market for the price.  Unchanged for many years, the Belomo™ lens is extremely accurate and has an indestructable steel casing whilst still being lightweight.  Belomo™, a Belarussian instrument maker have been making lens' for years and work in partnership with German glass maker Carl Zeiss AG (as in Carl Zeiss) to produce high quality optics such as this lens.  Belomo make this lens in the same factory where they make precision optics for weapons and scientiffic equipment so you can be rest assured it is top notch.

The lens on this triplet is 21 mm diameter, 19 viewable, which is almost twice the viewable area of a comparable Bausch & Lomb Hastings 10x Triplet (which retails for more mind you). True 3 element achromatic lense provides a bright and crisp view without color distortion. The housing is made of tough steel whilst still being lightweight.  This is the geology hand lens of choice to take out in the field as it is strong, durable and lightweight.  It is not plastic like others.  The focal distance is 28 mm and it can disassembled for easy cleaning. The screws have been glued in with locktite to prevent them from coming loose.

We have sold countless lens' to students, geologists, lapidary and botany (botanists) enthuisiasts, and all have been extremely happy with their purchases.  Avoid the cheaper lens' which have significant distortion at the edges of the glass due to poor manufacturing techniques.  It's also great for analysing other objects like stamps, fossils, jewelry - basically anything where you need to see detail in a clear and concise fashion.  For beginners, it is a better lens than the 20x lens due to the larger viewable area and the longer focal distance which provides a larger field of vision when magnifying objects.  We recommend that a 10x lens should be your first purchase (as opposed to a 20x lens) as it is a more versatile lens and provides ample magnification without having too small a field of vision.
